Home No More

I was driving around Edgewood on Sunday, and came across this community of abandoned houses, that I suspect were once military housing. It was rather surreal as the roads were completely open and clean, and the grass had been cut in the recent past. The buildings however had not seen an occupant in a long time.

Golden Shovels

The church I have been attending in MD has outgrown it's current building, and today they had a ground breaking ceremony for a new building. Don't worry, I don't think your donations went to gold plating these shovels.

Home Is Where You Park It

Home for me these days is a bit unusual. Hopefully we can sell out two homes in Colorado and get the family together again! This however is not a bad place to camp.

Sunshine On My Shoulders

It rained all day Saturday, so the sunshine was a welcomed sight Sunday morning.

Another Morning

The sky this morning had a rather silvery look to it that this photo did not really capture, but the sight of that, along with the low rumble of the tug got the day off to a good start.

Note, I do find myself shooting lots of morning shots these days since the days are getting shorter, and I have only been in town every other weekend for the past month. Holpfully I will be able to get out this weekend to get some more variety.

Westway

Considering that this is at a shipping port on the east coast, it seems misnamed.....

Wake up Place

A small cafe gets ready for those who need a boost on this cold morning.

Farmers Market

Every Thursday down on the Inner Harbor at Tide Point, there is a farmers market. Now this is not the sort of farmers market I have seen in Delta, but it looks good none the less. Last week I saw sea food, breads, as well as some farm grown items.

Happy Birthday Tim!

You know, you get more mileage out of generic Happy Birthday signs.... I suppose this was to go out to all the residents around highway 65 that had birthday's last September (when I saw it near Delta), but it also goes out to my son Tim who hits the big 20 today. Happy Birthday Tim!

Where Is Joe?

One of these people is likely to become president of the USA some time soon. Can you tell which one?

Chicken

My new office is down on the inner harbor SE of downtown Baltimore, and since I was water deprived in Delta, you are likely to see a large number of water type shots as I start my tour of Baltimore. Hope you enjoy them.

I watched these two boats appear to play chicken in the harbor. It turns out that was not the case, but not a bad way to spend lunch!

Winning Drive

I suppose you would need a winning drive to be able to purchase this toy, and even more so to pay for the gas!

Wrecking Ball

Fortunately there is a lot of water between the ball & the building! Actually this rig is used to load and unload the different ships that are here each day.

Behind The Sign

The smell that comes from behind the Domino Sugar building is rather interesting. Kind of like burn't sugar. Not unpleasant, just different.

Broken Windows

It always strikes me as odd to see buildings that are still being used, but have all sorts of broken windows in them. I don't get it....

Congratulations Michael

I wonder if he saw the sign as he visited this area last weekend....

Water Taxi

I remember posting a water taxi shot from Echo Lake in September of 07, but it was nothing like this little guy. It is actually free for people in my office, and one of these days I will need to take a lunch boat trip!

Skinny House

All over Baltimore there are these "houses". The primary measurements you care about are width, and stories. I toured one today (not pictured) that was 18 feet wide, had a finished basement, 3 floors above ground, and a roof top patio. I think it had 4 bedrooms, but I kind of got lost. It was actually rather nice, and had a price tag to match, in the "high 500's". The more typical units are around 12 feet wide, and 2-3 stories, but a builder told me that some of the older ones go down to 9 feet wide. Basically if you demolished the home, my motor home would not fit in the resulting space.......

We are trying to decide if we should become city dwellers, or if we should head to the country. Decision pending.....

A Different Sort of Sunrise

I am now camped out in Abingdon MD, and I commute down to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. One thing I have noticed is that the sun rises over the bay around here. ........This isn't Delta any longer!
