Chicken

My new office is down on the inner harbor SE of downtown Baltimore, and since I was water deprived in Delta, you are likely to see a large number of water type shots as I start my tour of Baltimore. Hope you enjoy them.

I watched these two boats appear to play chicken in the harbor. It turns out that was not the case, but not a bad way to spend lunch!

Winning Drive

I suppose you would need a winning drive to be able to purchase this toy, and even more so to pay for the gas!

Wrecking Ball

Fortunately there is a lot of water between the ball & the building! Actually this rig is used to load and unload the different ships that are here each day.

Behind The Sign

The smell that comes from behind the Domino Sugar building is rather interesting. Kind of like burn't sugar. Not unpleasant, just different.

Broken Windows

It always strikes me as odd to see buildings that are still being used, but have all sorts of broken windows in them. I don't get it....

Water Taxi

I remember posting a water taxi shot from Echo Lake in September of 07, but it was nothing like this little guy. It is actually free for people in my office, and one of these days I will need to take a lunch boat trip!

Skinny House

All over Baltimore there are these "houses". The primary measurements you care about are width, and stories. I toured one today (not pictured) that was 18 feet wide, had a finished basement, 3 floors above ground, and a roof top patio. I think it had 4 bedrooms, but I kind of got lost. It was actually rather nice, and had a price tag to match, in the "high 500's". The more typical units are around 12 feet wide, and 2-3 stories, but a builder told me that some of the older ones go down to 9 feet wide. Basically if you demolished the home, my motor home would not fit in the resulting space.......

We are trying to decide if we should become city dwellers, or if we should head to the country. Decision pending.....

A Different Sort of Sunrise

I am now camped out in Abingdon MD, and I commute down to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. One thing I have noticed is that the sun rises over the bay around here. ........This isn't Delta any longer!
